Module 5 · Timing - The Dasha Systems
Week 10 — Finer Timing, and the Opening of Ashtakavarga
This completes the timing architecture from top to bottom - Mahadasha down to Pranadasha - and establishes how far down that ladder it is honest to go. It then opens Ashtakavarga, which answers a question dasha cannot: not when, but how much support this house or planet actually has.
What you should be able to do by the end
Use the full Vimshottari ladder to the depth the evidence supports - and know exactly where that depth stops being meaningful.
This is the highest word-count week in the course and one of the lightest in real demand, because most of it is the Antardasha material you learned to read last week.
The idea worth slowing down for is the limit of subdivision. Parashara gives you Pranadasha - periods of hours. But precision of arithmetic is not precision of prediction. Every level down the ladder, the chain of inference from natal promise gets thinner, and a Pranadasha claim rests on a birth time accurate to seconds, which almost nobody has. You planted this in Week 2 when you read what a chart’s numbers actually depend on. Harvest it here.
Then Ashtakavarga begins, and it deserves a clean first idea before any arithmetic: each planet votes on each sign from where it sits, and the accumulated points tell you how much genuine support a house enjoys.
