Verse 1–7

1-7: Maharishi Parasara said- O Vipra! If the birth Nakshatra of the native and that of his brother or mother-father are the same, he (the native) will certainly die. Therefore, I relate the measures of pacification as propounded by the great sages like Garga etc. The measures shall be organised on an auspicious Vara (day), during the course of auspicious Nakshatra, having good Moon, Tara Bala and in the absence of Rikta (रिक्ता) Tithi and Vishti (विष्टि) Karana.

An elegant idol having appearance of the birth Nakshatra and Kalasha (कलश) be installed in between north-east corner and the corner of the fire place and have it covered with a red cloth and then wrap two pieces of cloth over it. The idol then be worshipped amidst chanting of Mantras concerning the birth Nakshatra. In order to alleviate inauspiciousness, Havana (हवन) be performed in accordance to one's own Gotra (गोत्र) by reciting the same Mantra for 108 times and offering oblations of wood pieces (समिधा), food grain, Ghee while facing the fire. Thereafter, the learned priest (Acharya - पण्डित) should do Abhisheka (अभिषेक - sprinkling of water or bath) of both the native and the person (relative) who have the common birth Nakshatra. Gifts (दक्षिण) be presented to the helpers of the Acharya (पण्डित) and the Acharya be offered special gifts. Lastly, the Brahmins are fed generously and with complete devoutness.
