84. BODY'S MARKS LIKE MOLES ETC.

अथाऽहं देहजातानां लांछनानां फलं ब्रुवे ।
आवर्तानां तिलानां च मशकानां विशेषतः ॥ १ ॥

1: Maharishi Parasara said - O Maitreya ! Now I will narrate the specific results of the marks like mole, warts (मसक), whirling hairs, signs etc., impressed on the body of a native.

अङ्गनानां च वामांगे दक्षिणाङ्गे नृणां शुभम् ।
रक्ताभं तिलकाभं वा लोम्नां चक्रमथापि वा ॥ २ ॥

तिलादि- लांछनं स्त्रीणां हृदि सौभाग्यसूचकम् ।
यस्या दक्षिणवक्षोजे रक्ते तिलकलांछने ॥ ३ ॥

सा सन्ततितिं सूते सुखसौभाग्यसंयुताम् ।

2-32 : If rmole, warts or whirling hairs [ रोमों का चक्र (भवर)] is - found impressed on the left part of the body of a woman and on the right part of the body of a man is considered propitious. If a woman has a sign of mole etc., on the part of the body over the heart, it will indicate good-luck. A woman have a red mole impressed on the left breast, she begets happiness and will be fortunate (सौभाग्य) and will give birth to several children.

रक्ताभं तिलकं यस्याः स्त्रिया वामे स्तने भवेत् ॥ ४ ॥

एक एव सुतस्तस्या भवतीति विदो विदुः ।

4-4½ : A Woman who possesses bright red mole on her left breast, she will have only one son. This is what has been stated by the savants.

पुत्रीपुत्रयुता ज्ञेया तिलके दक्षिणे स्तने ॥ ५ ॥

5 : Having a mole on the right breast, she will be blessed with daughters and sons.

भ्रुवोर्मध्ये ललाटे वा लांछनं राजसूचकम् ।
कपोले मशको रक्तो नित्यं मिष्ठान्नदायकः ॥ ६ ॥

6 : If there is a mark on the forehead between the eye brows, it will indicate kingship. If there is red warts on the cheeks, one begets sweets (मिष्ठान्न).

भगस्य दक्षिणे भागे लांछनं यदि योषितः ।
सा हि पृथ्वीपतेः पत्नी सूते वा भूपतिं सुतम् ॥ ७ ॥

7 : If the right side of the female organ (योनी) of a woman contains a mark (चिह्न), she will undoubtedly becomes wife of a king or gives birth to a king.

नासाग्रे लाञ्छने रक्तं राजपल्याः प्रजायते ।
कृष्णवर्णं तु यस्याः सा पुंश्चली विधवाऽथ वा ॥ ८ ॥

नाभेरधो नृणां स्त्रीणां लाञ्छनं च शुभप्रदम् ।
कर्णे गण्डे करे वाऽपि कण्ठे वाऽप्यथ लाञ्छनम् ॥ ९ ॥

प्रागुगर्भे पुत्रदं ज्ञेयं सुखसौभाग्यदं तथा ।
तिलादि लाञ्छनं विप्र ! गुल्फदेशे च दुःखदम् ॥ १० ॥

8-10 : If a red mark impressed on the front portion of the nose, she will be a wife of a king. If the mark has a black tint, she will not be of a good conduct or widow.

A mark below the navel is propitious both for the men and women. Should there be a mark on the ear, cheek, hand or neck, the first issue will be a male child and this mark will render comforts and good fortune.O - Vipreya! Marks impressed on the calf would cause sufferings and distress.

त्रिशूलाकृति चिंह च ललाटे यदि जायते ।
नारी राजप्रिया ज्ञेया भूपतिश्च नरो भवत् ॥ ११ ॥

11 : A mark like reddish trident on the forehead if possessed by a woman, she will be bestowed with the affection of a king and if by a man, he begets kingship.

लोम्नां प्रदक्षिणावर्तो हृदि नाभौ करे श्रुतौ ।
दक्षपृष्ठे शुभो वस्तौ वामावर्तोऽशुभप्रदः ॥ १२ ॥

12 : Characteristics of whirling hairs: If whirling hairs (in a clock-wise circles) are located on heart, navel, hand, ear, waist (right side) and pelvis, it will be propitious. If this whirling hairs are anti-clock-wise, it will be inauspicious.

कट्यां गुह्येऽथवाऽऽवर्ती स्त्रीणां दौर्भाग्यसूचकः ।
उदरे हन्ति भर्तारं मध्येपृष्ठे च पुंश्चली ॥ १३ ॥

कण्ठे ललाटे सीमन्ते मध्येमागे च मूर्धनि ।
आवर्तो न शुभः स्त्रीणां पुसां वाऽपि द्विजोत्तम ! ॥ १४ ॥

13-14 : The formation of whirling hairs at the waist or over the private parts of the women will indicate misfortune and if it being on the stomach, it will cause widowhood and if at the middle of the waist, it will denote mis-conduct or of loose moral.

O Great Brahmin! A whirling hairs formed over the neck, forehead, at the place or parting-hair (माँग) and middle of the forehead both of woman as well as man, it is not considered auspicious.

सुलक्षणा सुचरिता अपि मन्दायुषं पतिम् ।
दीर्घायुषं प्रकुर्वन्ति प्रमदाश्च मुदास्पदम् ॥ १५ ॥

15: A woman having lucky marks or sign and of a good character makes the short longevity of her husband prolonged (दीर्घायु) and creates environment of happiness.
