85. CURSES OF THE PREVIOUS BIRTH

महर्षे ! भवता प्रोक्तं फलं स्त्रीणां नृणां पृथक् ।
अधुना श्रोतुमिच्छामि त्वत्तो वेदविदांवर ॥ १ ॥

अपुत्रस्य गतिर्नास्ति शास्त्रेषु श्रूयते मुने ! ।
अपुत्रः केन पापेन भवतीति वद प्रभो ! ॥ २ ॥

जन्मलग्नाच्च तज्ज्ञानं कथं दैवविदां भवेत् ।
अपुत्रस्य सुतप्राप्तेरुपायं कृपयोच्यताम् ॥ ३ ॥

1-3: Maitreya said Hey Maharishi ! you have since enlightened me with the results severly for women and men. Hey Vedagya (वेदज्ञ) (scholar of Vedic scriptures) I am yet inquisitive to hear more from you. O Sage! I learnt from the Shastras that the soul of a childless person haunts after his death. O Lord ! Kindly explain what sin leads to childlessness ? How an astrologer will delineate its effects from the Ascendant and what propitiatory penance a childless person should undertake to have a child?

साधु पृष्टं त्वया विप्र ! कथ्यते हि तथा मया ।
यथोमया हि पृष्टेन शिवेन कथितं पुरा ॥ ४ ॥

4 : Sage Parasara replied - Hey Vipreya, you have posed a good question. I will certainly reiterate the facts as described by Lord Shiva when beseeched by Goddess Parvati.

केन योगेन, पापेन ज्ञायतेऽपत्यनाशनम् ! ।
तेषां च रक्षणोपायं कृपया नाथ ! मे वद ॥ ५ ॥

5 : Goddess Parvati said - O my Lord ! kindly tell me what sin destroys the children and what planetary combinations depict these effects and what are the preventive propitiatory measures ?

साधु पृष्टं त्वया देवि ! कथयामि तवाऽधुना ।
सन्तानहानियोगांश्च तद्रक्षोपायसंयुतान् ॥ ६ ॥

6 : Lord Shiva replied - Hey Devi! you have asked a very good question. Now I will describe the combinations for the loss of children alongwith its propitiatory measures.

गुरु - लग्नेश-दारेश पुत्रस्थानाधिपेषु च ।
सर्वेषु बलहीनेषु वक्तव्या त्वनपत्यता ॥ ७ ॥

7 : If Jupiter, lord of the Ascendant, the 7th and the 5th houses are bereft of strength, it will cause Yoga for childlessness.

रव्यार- राहु- शनयः सबलाः पुत्रभावगाः ।
तदाऽनपत्यता चेत् स्युरबलाः पुत्रकारकाः ॥ ८ ॥

8 : If the Sun, Mars, Rahu and Saturn duly strong are posited in the 5th house and Jupiter Karaka for children is weak, it will give rise to Yoga for childlessness.

पुत्रस्थानगते राहौ कुजेन च निरीक्षिते ।
कुजक्षेत्रगते वाऽपि सर्पशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ ९ ॥

पुत्रेशे राहुसंयुक्ते पुत्रस्थे भानुनन्दने ।
चन्द्रेण संयुते दृष्टे सर्पशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ १० ॥

कारके राहुसंयुक्ते पुत्रेशे बलवर्जिते ।
लग्नेशे कुजसंयुक्ते सर्पशापात् सुतक्षय ॥ ११ ॥

कारके भौमसंयुक्ते लग्ने च राहुसंयुते ।
पुत्रस्थानाधिपे दुःस्थे सर्पशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ १२ ॥

भौमांशे भौमसंयुक्ते पुत्रेशे सोमनन्दने ।
राहु- मान्दियुते लग्ने सर्पशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ १३ ॥

पुत्रभावे कुजक्षेत्रे पुत्रेशे राहुसंयुते ।
सौम्यदृष्टे युते वाऽपि सर्पशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ १४ ॥

पुत्रस्था भानुमन्दारा: स्वर्भानुः शशिजोऽगिंराः ।
निर्बलौ पुत्रलग्नेशौ सर्पशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ १५ ॥

लग्नेशे राहुसंयुक्ते पुत्रेशे भोमसंयुते ।
कारके राहुयुक्ते वा सर्पशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ १६ ॥

9-16: If Rahu is posited in the 5th house and aspected by Mars or similar combination is formed in Aries or Scorpio sign, it will cause childlessness due to the curse of the 'Snake' (नाग).

When lord of the 5th house conjoins with Rahu and Saturn forms conjunction with or aspects the Moon in the 5th house, it will cause loss of children attributed to the curse of the 'Snake'.

Should Jupiter conjoin Rahu, lord of the 5th house is weak, lord of the Ascendant is conjunct with Mars, there will be loss of children owing to the curse of the 'Snake'.

Conjunction of Jupiter and Mars, Rahu's position in the Ascendant, the 5th lord being in a Trik house (6th, 8th, 12th) will also give effect to the childlessness.

If 5th lord Mercury is in the Navamsa of Mars and conjoined with Mars, the ascendant contains Rahu and Mandi, the curse of 'Snake' will destroy the children (progeny).

If the 5th house is of the sign of Mars and the 5th lord is in conjunction with Rahu and is also under the aspect or conjunction of Mercury, it will denote loss of children as a result of the curse of the 'Snake'.

When the 5th house contains the Sun, Saturn, Mars, Rahu, Mercury, Jupiter and the 5th and the Ascendant lords are weak, the childlessness will be ascribed to the curse of the 'Snake'.

Conjunction of the lord of the Ascendant with Rahu and the lord of the 5th house with Mars or Jupiter with Rahu, will also effect the destruction of children attributed to the curse of the 'Snake'.

ग्रहयोगवशेनैवं नृणां ज्ञात्वाऽनपत्यता ।
तद्दोषपरिहारार्थं नागपूजां समारभेत् ॥ १७ ॥

स्वगृह्योक्तविधानेन प्रतिष्ठां कारयेत् सुधीः ।
नागमूर्ति सुवर्णेन कृत्वा पूजां समाचरेत् ॥ १८ ॥

गो-भू-तिल-हिरण्यादि दद्याद् वित्तानुसारतः ।
एवं कृते तु नागेन्द्रप्रसादात् वर्धते कुलम् ॥ १९ ॥

17-19 : After ascertaining childlessness on the basis of planetary combination's enunciated in the previous Shlokas and to propitiate the curse, Naga Raja be gratified through worship. An idol of Naga Raja (नाग राजा) be made in gold and have it glorified as per the traditions of the family and shall be worshipped by the scholars and cow, land, sesamum, gold etc. be denoted in charity as could be afforded by the family. By performing these rites, with the blessing of Naga Raja, there will be prolongation of the family.

पुत्रस्थानं गते भानौ नीचे मन्दांशकस्थिते ।
पार्श्वयोः क्रूरसम्बन्धे पितृशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ २० ॥

पुत्रस्थानाधिपे भानौ त्रिकोणे पापसंयुते ।
क्रूरान्तरे पापदृष्टे पितृशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ २१ ॥

भानुराशिस्थिते जीवे पुत्रेशे भानुसंयुते ।
पुत्रे लग्ने च पापाढ्ये पितृशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ २२ ॥

लग्नेशे दुर्बले पुत्रे पुत्रेशे भानुसंयुते ।
पुत्रे लग्ने पापयुते पितृशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ २३ ॥

पितृस्थानाधिपे पुत्रे पुत्रेशे वाऽपि कर्मगे ।
पुत्रे लग्ने च पापाढ्ये पितृशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ २४ ॥

पितृस्थानाधिपो भौमः पुत्रेशेन समन्वितः ।
लग्ने पुत्रे पितृस्थाने पापे सन्ततिनाशनम् ॥ २५ ॥

पितृस्थानाधिपे दुःस्थे कारके पापराशिगे ।
स- पापौ पुत्रलग्नेशौ पितृशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ २६ ॥

लग्नपञ्चमभावस्था भानु-भौम-शनैश्चराः ।
रन्ध्रे रिष्फे राहु-जीवौ पितृशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ २७ ॥

लग्नादष्टमगे भानौ पुत्रस्थे भानुनन्दने ।
पुत्रेशे राहुसंयुक्ते लग्ने पापे सुतक्षयः ॥ २८ ॥

व्ययेशे लग्नभावस्थे रन्ध्रेशे पुत्रराशिगे ।
पितृस्थानाधिपे रन्ध्रे पितृशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ २९ ॥

रोगेशे पुत्रभावस्थे पितृस्थानाधिपे रिपौ ।
कारके राहुसंयुक्ते पितृशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ ३० ॥

20-30 : If the Sun duly debilitated is posited in the 5th house and is in the Navamsa of Saturn and both are hemmed between malefic planets, there will be destruction of children attributed to the curse of the forefathers.

The Sun being the lord of the 5th house posited in a Trinal house alongwith a malefic planet and also getting hemmed with and aspected by malefic planets, there will be loss of children ascribed to the curse of the forefathers.

If Jupiter is posited in Leo, the lord of the 5th house is in conjunction with the Sun and there are malefic planets in the Ascendant and the 5th house, the curse of the forefathers brings deprivation of children.

A weak lord of the Ascendant is posited in the 5th house, the lord of the 5th house is in conjunction with the Sun and malefic planets are posited in the Ascendant and the 5th house will attribute childlessness consequential to the curse of the forefathers.

If there is an exchange between the lords of the 10th and the 5th houses and malefic planets are posited in the Ascendant and the 5th house, there will be no issue following the curse of the forefathers.

Mars being the lord of the 10th house conjoins with the lord of the 5th house and there are malefic planets posited in the Ascendant, the 5th, the 10th houses an annihiliation of the children will take effect.

If the lord of the 10th house is positioned in the Trik house (6th, 8th, 12th), Jupiter being in the inauspicious sign, the lords of the Ascendant and the 5th house are associated with the malefic planets, the curse of the forefathers will destroy the children.

If the Sun, Mars, Saturn are posited in the Ascendant and Rahu and Jupiter are in the 8th and the 12th houses, the curse of the forefathers destroys the children.

When the Sun is located in the 8th house, Saturn in the 5th house, the lord of the 5th house is conjunct with Rahu and malefic planet is posited in the Ascendant, there will be loss of children.

If the lord of the 12th house is posited in the Ascendant, 8th lord be in the 5th house and the 10th lord is placed in the 8th house, it will cause childlessness.

The 6th lord be in the 5th house, the lord of the 10th house is posited in the 6th house and the Jupiter being in conjunction with Rahu, there will be los. of children due to the curse of the forefathers.

तद्दोषपरिहारार्थं गयाश्राद्धं च कारयेत् ।
ब्राह्मणान् भोजयेदत्र अयुतं वा सहस्रकम् ॥ ३१ ॥

अथवा कन्यकादानं गोदानं च समाचरेत् ।
एवं कृते पितुः शापान्मुच्यते नाऽत्र संशयः ॥ ३२ ॥

वर्धते च कुलं तस्य पुत्रपौत्रादिभिः सदा ।
ग्रहयोगवशादेवं फलं ब्रूयात् विचक्षणः ॥ ३३ ॥

31-33 : To get set free from these afflictions, Shrada at Gaya be performed and unlimited or one thousand Brahmins befed. Besides, Kanya Dan (to undertake the marriage of a girl) and donate cow in charity be also done.

By performing these propitious deeds, one certainly gets released from the curse of the forefathers and his family will get perpetuated with children and grand children.

Therefore, it is desirable of the learned Astrologers to delineate the results on the basis of planetary combination (Yoga) in the nativity.

पुत्रस्थानाधिपे चन्द्रे नीचे वा पापमध्यगे ।
हिब्रुके पञ्चमे पापे मातृशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ ३४ ॥

लाभे मन्दसमायुक्ते मातृस्थाने शुभेतरे ।
नीचे पञ्चमगे चन्द्रे मातृशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ ३५ ॥

पुत्रस्थानाधिपे दुःस्थे लग्नेशे नीचराशिगे ।
चन्द्रे च पापसंयुक्ते मातृशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ ३६ ॥

पुत्रेशेऽष्टारिरिष्फस्थे चन्द्रे पापांशसंगते ।
लग्ने पुत्रे च पापाढ्ये मातृशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ ३७ ॥

पुत्रस्थानाधिपे चन्द्रे मन्दराह्वारसंयुते ।
भाग्ये वा पुत्रभावे वा मातृशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ ३८ ॥

मातृस्थानाधिपे भौमे शनिराहुसमन्विते ।
चन्द्रभानुयुते पुत्रे लग्ने वा सन्ततिक्षयः ॥ ३९ ॥

लग्नात्मजेशौ शत्रुस्थौ रन्ध्रे मात्रधिपः स्थितः ।
पितृनाशाधिपौ लग्ने मातृशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ ४० ॥

षष्ठाष्टमेशौ लग्नस्थौ व्यये मात्रधिपः सुते ।
चन्द्र - जीवौ पापयुक्तौ मातृशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ ४१ ॥

पापमध्यगते लग्ने, क्षीणे चन्द्रे च सप्तम ।
मातृपुत्रे राहुमन्दौ मातृशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ ४२ ॥

नाशस्थानाधिपे पुत्रे पत्रेशे नाशराशिगे ।
चन्द्रमातृपतौ दुःस्ये मातृशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ ४३ ॥

चन्द्रक्षेत्रे यदा लग्ने कुजराहुसमन्विते ।
चन्द्रमन्दौ पुत्रसंस्थौ मातृशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ ४४ ॥

लग्ने पुत्रे मृतौ रिष्फे कुजो राहू रविः शनिः ।
मातृलग्नाधिपौ दुःस्थौ मातृशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ ४५ ॥

नाशस्थानं गते जीवे कुजराहुसमन्विते ।
पुत्रस्थाने मन्दचन्द्रौ मातृशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ ४६ ॥

एवं योगं बुधैदृष्ट्वा विज्ञेया त्वनपत्यता ।
ततः सन्तान- रक्षार्थं कर्त्तव्या शान्तिरुत्तमा ॥ ४७ ॥

सेतुस्नानं प्रकर्तव्यं गायत्रीलक्षसंख्यका ।
रौप्यमात्रं पयः पीत्वा ग्रहदानं प्रयत्नतः ॥ ४८ ॥

ब्राह्मणान् भोजयेत्तद्वदश्वत्थस्य प्रदक्षिणम् ।
कर्तव्यं भक्तियुक्तेन चाष्टोत्तरसहस्रकम् ॥ ४९ ॥

एवं कृते महादेवि ! शापान्मोक्षो भविष्यति ।
सुपुत्रं लभते पश्चात् कुलवृद्धिश्च जायते ॥ ५० ॥

34-50 : The Moon being lord of the 5th house, in debilitation and hemmed by the malefic planets and the 4th and 5th houses also contain malefic planets, will cause destruction of children due to the curse of the mother.

The position of Saturn in the 11th house, the 4th house containing a malefic planet and the Moon be in the sign of debilitation will destroy the children.

If the lord of the 5th house is posited in a Trik house (6th, 8th, 12th) duly debilitated and the Moon be in conjunction with the malefic planet, there will be loss of children attributed to the curse of the mother.

Similarly, if the lord of the 5th house is located in a Trik houses (6th, 8th, 12th) and the Moon being the Navamsa of a malefic planet and malefics are also posited in the Ascendant and the 5th house, it will cause childlessness ascribed to the curse of the mother.

The Moon being the lord of the 5th house duly conjunct with Saturn, Rahu, Mars is posited in the 5th or the 9th house, there will be loss of children as a result of the curse of the mother.

If Mars is the lord of the 4th house and connected with Saturn and Rahu and the Sun and the Moon being in the Ascendant or the 5th house, it will cause loss of children.

The Ascendant's lord and the 5th lord are located in the 6th house, the 4th lord being in the 8th house and the 10th and the 8th lords are in the Ascendant will bring about the loss of children due to the curse of the mother.

If the lords of the 6th and the 8th houses are situated in the Ascendant, the lord of the 4th house is posited in the 10th house, the Moon and Jupiter duly conjunct with the malefic planet are located in the 5th house, the curse of the mother will destroy the children.

When the Ascendant gets hemmed by the malefics and the Moon bereft of strength is posited in the 7th house and Rahu and Saturn respectively are situated in the 4th and the 5th houses, then mother's curse destroys the children.

If there is an exchange between the lords of the 8th and the 5th houses and the Moon and the lord of the 4th house are posited in the Trik houses (6th, 8th, 12th), it will cause loss of children.

In the nativity of Cancer Ascendant, if Mars or Rahu is posited and the Moon or Saturn is posited in the 5th house, the curse of the mother becomes the cause of the destruction of the children.

If Mars, Rahu, the Sun and Saturn are posited in the ascendant, the 5th, the 8th and the 12th houses and the lords of the 4th house and the Ascendant are situated in the Trik houses, the mother's curse brings about the loss of the children.

If Jupiter duly conjunct with Mars and Rahu is posited in the 8th house and the Moon and the Saturn are posited in the 5th house, the children are destroyed due to the curse of the mother.

The delineation of childlessness shall be indicated after carefully considering these Yogas by the scholars and for the protection of the children, beneficent propitiatory measures are accomplished. The native should take bath under the bridge, recite Gayatri Mantras for one lakh times. Aftertaking milk in Ropaya (रौप्य) in a particular measure, the things connected with the planet be given in charity, feed the Brahmins and go round (प्रदक्षिण) a pipal tree 1008 times with full devoutness.

O Mahadevi ! With the performance of these rites, one gets relieved from the curse and there will be gain of children and prolongation of the family.

Notes: Ropaya (रौप्य) is a fixed quantity of a liquid (द्रव). Incidentially, in Sanskrit Ropaya is also an appropriate word for silver.

अथो योगान् प्रव्रक्ष्यामि भ्रातृशापसमुद्भवान् ।
यज्ज्ञात्वाऽपत्यरक्षार्थं यत्नं कुर्याद् विचक्षणः ॥ ५१ ॥

भ्रातृस्थानाधिपे पुत्रे कुजराहुसमन्विते ।
पुत्रलग्नेश्वरौ रन्ध्रे भ्रातृशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ ५२ ॥

लग्ने सुते कुजे मन्दे भ्रातृपे भाग्यराशिगे ।
कारके नाशभावस्थे भ्रातृशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ ५३ ॥

भ्रातृस्थाने गुरुर्नीचे मन्दः पञ्चमगो यदि ।
नाशस्थाने तु चन्द्रारौ भ्रातृशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ ५४ ॥

तनुस्थानाधिपे रिष्फे भौमः पञ्चमगो यदि ।
रन्ध्रे स-पापपुत्रेशे भ्रातृशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ ५५ ॥

पापमध्यगते लग्ने पापमध्ये सुतेऽपि च ।
लग्नेशपुत्रपौ दुःस्यौ भ्रातृशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ ५६ ॥

कर्मेशे भ्रातृभावस्थे पापयुक्ते, तथा शुभे ।
पुत्रगे कुजसंयुक्ते भ्रातृशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ ५७ ॥

पुत्रस्थाने बुधक्षेत्रे शनि-राहु-समन्विते ।
रिष्फे विदारौ विज्ञेयो भ्रातृशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ ५८ ॥

लग्नेशे भ्रातृभावस्थे भ्रातृस्थानाधिपे सुते ।
लग्नभ्रातृसुते पापे भ्रातृशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ ५९ ॥

भ्रात्रीशे मृत्युभावस्थे पुत्रस्थे कारके तथा ।
राहुमन्दयुते दृष्टे भ्रातृशापात् सुतक्षय: ॥ ६० ॥

नाशस्थानाधिपे पुत्रे भ्रातृनाथेन संयुते ।
रन्ध्रे आरार्किसंयुक्ते भ्रातृशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ ६१ ॥

51-61 : Now I will narrate the Yogas arising out of the curse of the brother and on knowing the same, the learned Astrologers should make efforts to protect the children from the curse.

If the lord of the 3rd house is posited in the 5th house duly conjunct with Mars and Rahu, the lords of the 5th house and the Ascendant are in the 8th house, there will be loss of children due to the curse of the brother.

If Mars and Saturn are respectively posited in the Ascen dant and the 5th house and the lord of the 3rd house is located in the 9th house and Karaka for the brother gets posited in the 8th house, it will cause destruction of the children attributed to the curse of the brother.

If Jupiter duly debilitated is posited in the 3rd house and Saturn goes to the 5th house and the Moon and Mars are posited in the 8th house, there will be loss of children ascribed to the curse of the brother.

When the lord of the Ascendant be in the 12th house and Mars gets into the 5th house and the lord of the 5th house duly conjunct with a malefic planet is posited in the 8th house, then children will be destroyed owing to the curse of the brother.

If the Ascendant and the 5th house are hemmed between: the malefic planets and the lords of the Ascendant and the 5th house are posited in the Trik houses (6th, 8th, 12th), the brother's curse will bring deprivation of children.

Should the lord of the 10th house, duly conjunct with the malefic planets, is posited in the 3rd house and auspicious planet conjoining with Mars is positioned in the 5th house, loss of children as a result of the curse of the brother be predicted.

If the 5th house having the sign of Mercury harbours both Saturn and Rahu and the 12th house contains Mercury and Mars, there will be deprevation of children following the curse of the brother.

If the lord of the Ascendant and the 3rd house are posited in the 3rd and the 5th houses respectively and malefic planets are posited in the ascendant, the 3rd house and the 5th house, it will indicate loss of children.

When the lord of the 3rd house is in the 8th house, Jupiter, Saturn, Rahu are posited or aspecting the 5th house, loss of children will take place.

If the lord of the 8th house duly conjunct with the lord of the 3rd house is posited in the 5th house and the 8th house harbours Mars and Saturn, the brother's curse will cause the deprevation of children.

भ्रातृशापविमोक्षार्थं वंशस्य श्रवणं हरेः ।
चान्द्रायणं चरेत् पश्चात् कावेर्य्या विष्णुसन्निधौ ॥ ६२ ॥

अश्वत्थस्थापनं कुर्याद् दशधेनूश्च दापयेत् ।
पत्नीहस्तेन पुत्रेच्छुर्भूमिं दद्यात् फलान्विताम् ॥ ६३ ॥

एवं यः कुरुते भक्त्या धर्मपत्न्या समन्वितः ।
ध्रुवं तस्य भवेत् पुत्रः कुलवृद्धिश्च जायते ॥ ६४ ॥

62-64: In order to get released from the curse of the brother, Chandrayana (चांद्रायण) fast after listening to Harivansa Purana (हरिवशं पुराण) is observed. Thereafter, sapling of Pipal tree be planted in front the Saligrama (शालिग्रम) on the bank of the Kaveri river (कावेरी) and 10 cows are worshipped. The one desirous of children (son) should donate land having fruit trees in charity through his wife. All these ceremonies be performed along with the wife with full devoutness. This will bestow children (son) and prolongation of the family will be assured.

पुत्रस्थाने बुधे जीवे कुज-राहु-समन्विते ।
लग्ने मन्दे सुताभावो ज्ञेयो मातुलशापतः ॥ ६५ ॥

लग्नेपुत्रेश्वरी पुत्रे बुध-भौमार्किसंयुतौ ।
ज्ञेयं मातुलशापत्वाज्जनस्य सन्ततिक्षयः ॥ ६६ ॥

लुप्ते पुत्राधिपे लग्ने सप्तमे भानुनन्दने ।
लग्नेशे बुधसंयुक्ते तस्यापि सन्ततिक्षयः ॥ ६७ ॥

ज्ञातिस्थानाधिपे लग्ने व्ययेशेन समन्विते ।
शशिसौम्यकुजे पुत्रे विज्ञेयः सन्ततिक्षयः ॥ ६८ ॥

65-68 : If Mercury, Jupiter, Mars and Rahu are posited in the 5th house and the Ascendant contains Saturn, it will cause depriva tion of children due to the curse of the maternal uncle.

Should the lords of the Ascendant and the 5th house duly conjunct with Mercury, Mars, Saturn are posited in the 5th house, the childlessness will be attributed to the curse of the maternal uncle.

When the lord of the 5th house on combusion gets posited in the Ascendant, Saturn be in the 7th house and lord of the Ascendant conjoins Mercury, even then there will be loss of children.

Positioning of the lord of the 4th house duly conjunct with the lord of the 12th house in the Ascendant and the Moon, Mercury, Mars are posited in the 5th house will indicate the destruction of the children.

तद्दोषपरिहारार्थं विष्णुस्थापनमाचरेत् ।
वापी-कूप-तडागादिखननं सेतुबन्धनम् ॥ ६९ ॥

पुत्रवृद्धिर्भवेत्तस्य संपवृद्धिः प्रजायते ।
इति योगवशादेवं शान्तिं कुर्याद् विचक्षणः ॥ ७० ॥

69-70 : In order to get released from the curse of the maternal uncle, the idol of Lord Vishnu be installed and water pond, well and embankment be constructed. These measures will help accretion of children and property. The scholars should alleviate the curse in this manner.

बलगर्वेन यो मर्त्यो ब्राह्मणानवमन्यते ।
तद्दोषाद् ब्रह्मशापाच्च तस्य स्यात् सन्ततिक्षयः ॥ ७१ ॥

गुरुक्षेत्रे यदा राहुः पुत्रे जीवारभानुजाः ।
धर्मस्थानाधिपे नाशे ब्रह्मशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ ७२ ॥

धर्मेशे पुत्रभावस्थे पुत्रेशे नाशराशिगे ।
जीवारराहुभिर्युक्ते ब्रह्मशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ ७३ ॥

धर्मभावाधिपे नीच व्ययेशे पुत्रभावगे ।
राहुयुक्तेक्षिते वापि ब्रह्मशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ ७४ ॥

जीवे नीचगते राहौ लग्ने वा पुत्रराशिगे ।
पुत्रस्थानाधिपे दुःस्थे ब्रह्मशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ ७५ ॥

पुत्रभावाधिपे जीवे रन्ध्रे पापसमन्विते ।
पुत्रेशे सार्कचन्द्रे वा ब्रह्मशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ ७६ ॥

मन्दांशे मन्दसंयुक्ते जीवे भौमसमन्विते ।
पुत्रेशे व्ययराशिस्थे ब्रह्मशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ ७७ ॥

लग्ने गुरुयुते मन्दे भाग्ये राहुसमन्विते ।
व्यये वा गुरुसंयुक्ते ब्रह्मशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ ७८ ॥

71-78 : The one getting proud and overbearing of ones power, if insults the Brahmins, this affliction (दोष) or the curse of the Brahmins destorys the children (The kind of pride could be due to excessive property, physical strength, status, wealth etc.)

If Rahu is posited in the sign of Jupiter, the 5th house contains Jupiter, Mars and Saturn and the lord of the 9th house is posited in the 8th house, the children get destroyed due to the curse of the Brahmins.

When the 9th lord is in the 5th house, the lord of the 5th house be in the 8th house and gets conjunct with or aspected by Jupiter, Mars, Rahu, it will attribute childlessness due the curse of the Brahmins.

Should the lord of the 9th house get debilitated, the lord of the 12th house is posited in the 5th house and either gets conjunct or aspected by Rahu, it will cause loss of children as a result of the curse of the Brahmins.

If Jupiter being debilitated, Rahu is situated in the Ascen dant or in the 5th house and the lord of the 5th house is in a Trik house (6th, 8th, 12th), it will also denote destruction of children following the curse from the Brahmins.

If Jupiter being the lord of the 5th house and posited in the 8th house duly conjunct with the malefic planet or the lord of the 5th house alongwith the Sun and the Moon is in the 8th house, there will be loss of children due to the curse of the Brahmins.

When Jupiter being in the Navamsa of Saturn and Saturn conjoins Mars and the lord of the 5th house is posited in the 12th house, the Brahmins' curse destroys the children.

Should the Ascendant contain's Jupiter and Saturn and Rahu being in the 9th house or Rahu joins Jupiter in the 12th house, even then it will cause deprivation of children.

तस्य दोषस्य शान्त्यर्थं कुर्याच्चान्द्रायणं नरः ।
ब्रह्मकृच्छ्रत्रयं कृत्वा धेनुं दद्यात् सदक्षिणाम् ॥ ७९ ॥

पञ्चरत्नानि देयानि सुवर्णसहितानि च ।
ब्राह्मणान् भोजयेत् पश्चाद्यथाशक्ति द्विजोत्तम ! ॥ ८० ॥

एवं कृते तु सत्पुत्रं लभते नाऽत्र संशयः ।
मुक्तशापो विशुद्धात्मा स नरः सुखमेधते ॥ ८१ ॥

79-81 In order to alleviate this affliction (दोष), the native should observe Chandrayana fast and three fasts to do penance against the sinful act against the Brahmins and charity of a cow with donation (दक्षिणा) be given in charity. O Brahmin! Five gems alongwith gold be also denoted in charity and thereafter the Brahmins shall be fed with devoutness. In this manner, the native will certainly gain seven children and the native will get released from the curse of the noble soul

दारेशे पुत्रभावस्थे दारेशस्यांशपे शनौ ।
पुत्रेशे नाशराशिस्थे पत्नीशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ ८२ ॥

नाशसंस्थे कलत्रेशे पुत्रेशे नाशराशिगे ।
कारके पापसंयुक्ते पत्नीशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ ८३ ॥

पुत्रस्थानगते शुक्रे कामपे रन्घमाश्रिते ।
कारके पापसंयुक्ते पत्नीशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ ८४ ॥

कुटुम्बे पापसंयुक्ते कामपे नाशराशिगे ।
पुत्रे पापग्रहैर्युक्ते पत्नीशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ ८५ ॥

भाग्यस्थानगते शुक्रे दारेशे नाश-राशिगे ।
लग्ने सुते च पापढ्ये पत्नीशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ ८६ ॥

भाग्यस्थानाधिपे शुक्रे पुत्रेशे शत्रुराशिगे ।
गुरुलग्नेशदारेशा दुःस्थाश्चेत् सन्ततिक्षयः ॥ ८७ ॥

पुत्रस्थाने भृगुक्षेत्रे राहुचन्द्रसमन्विते ।
व्यये लग्ने धने पापे पत्नीशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ ८८ ॥

सप्तमे मन्दशुक्रौ च रन्ध्रेशे पुत्रभे, रवौ ।
लग्ने राहुसमायुक्ते पत्नीशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ ८९ ॥

धने कुजे व्यये जीवे पुत्रस्थे भृगुनन्दने ।
शनिराहुयुते दृष्टे पत्नीशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ ९० ॥

नाशस्थौ वित्तदारेशौ पुत्रे लग्ने कुजे शनौ ।
कारके पापसंयुक्ते पत्नीशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ ९१ ॥

लग्नपञ्चमभाग्यस्था राहुमन्दकुजा: क्रमात् ।
रन्ध्रस्थौ पुत्रदारेशौ पत्नीशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ ९२ ॥

82-92 : When the lord of the 7th house is in the 5th house and the Saturn being in the Navamsa of the lord of the 7th house and the lord of the 5th house in the 8th house then such a combination will cause childlessness due to the curse of the wife.

If lord of the 7th house is in the 8th house and the lord of the 5th is also in the 8th house, the Karaka Jupiter is conjunct with the malefic planets, there will be loss of children owning to the curse of the wife.

When Venus is posited in the 5th house and the lord of the 7th house is posited in the 8th house and the Karaka Jupiter conjoins the malefic planets, the curse of the wife will destroy the children.

Should the 2nd house contain malefic planet and the lord of the 7th is in the 8th house and malefic planets is posited in the 5th house, it will cause deprivation of children as a result of the curse of the wife.

If Venus is posited in the 9th house, the lord of the 7th house is placed in the 8th house, the Ascendant and the 5th house contain malefic planets, there will be loss of children due to the curse of the wife.

When Venus being the lord of the 9th house, the lord of the 5th house be in the inimical sign and Jupiter, lords of the Ascendant and the 7th house are in the Trik houses (6th, 8th, 12th), it will also bring about deprivation of children.

If the 5th house having the sign of Venus and the Moon and Rahu are posited over there and malefic planets are situated in the 12th house, the Ascendant and the 2nd house, it will also indicate 735 the destruction of the children owning to the wife's curse.

Positioning of Saturn and Venus in the 7th house, the lord of the 8th house in the 5th house and the Sun duly conjoined with Rahu are posited in the Ascendant will bring about the destruction of the children with the curse of the wife.

Should there be Mars posited in the 2nd house, Jupiter in the 12th house, Venus in the 5th house duly conjoined or aspected by Saturn and Rahu, the wife's curse will destroy the children.

If the lords of the 2nd and 7th houses are posited in the 8th house, Mars and Saturn are in the Ascendant and the 5th house and Karaka Jupiter duly conjoined the malefic planets, destruction of the children due to the curse of the wife is indicated.

If Rahu, Saturn and Mars are respectively posited in the Ascendant, the 5th house, the 9th house and the lords of the 5th and the 7th houses are situated in the 8th house, the curse of the wife will destroy the children.

शापमुक्त्यै च कन्यायां सत्यां तद्दानमाचरेत् ।
कन्याभावे च श्रीविष्णोर्मूति लक्ष्मीसमन्विताम् ॥ ९३ ॥

दद्यात् स्वर्णमयीं विप्र ! दशधेनुसमन्विताम् ।
शय्यां च भूषणं वस्त्रं दम्पतिभ्यां द्विजन्मनाम् ॥ ९४ ॥

ध्रुवं तस्य भवेत् पुत्रो भाग्यवृद्धिश्च जायते ।

93-94½ : In order to get released from this curse, the native should perform the marriage of an unmarried girl (kanyadana) and in the event of the non availability of a girl, a gold idol of Goddess Laxmi and Lord Vishnu, ten cows, a bed, jewellery and garments be donated in charity to the Brahmin and they will certainly get children and there will also be rise in his fortune.

कर्मलोपे पितॄणां च प्रेतत्वं तस्य जायते ॥ ९५ ॥

तस्य प्रेतस्य शापाच्च पुत्राभावः प्रजायते ।
अतोऽत्र तादृशान् योगात् जन्मलग्नात् प्रवच्म्यहम् ॥ ९६ ॥

पुत्रस्थितौ मन्दसूर्यो क्षीणचन्द्रश्च सप्तमे ।
लग्ने व्यये राहुजीवौ प्रेतशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ ९७ ॥

पुत्रस्थानाधिपे मन्दे नाशस्थे, लग्नगे कुजे ।
कारके नाशभावे च प्रेतशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ ९८ ॥

लग्ने पापे व्यये भानौ सुते चारार्किसोमजा: ।
पुत्रेशे रन्ध्रभावस्थे प्रेतशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ ९९ ॥

लग्ने स्वर्भानुना युक्ते पुत्रस्थे भानुनन्दने ।
गुरौ च नाशराशिस्थे प्रेतशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ १०० ॥

लग्ने राहौ स-शुक्रेज्ये चन्द्रे मन्दयुते तथा ।
लग्नेशे मृत्युराशिस्थे प्रेतशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ १०१ ॥

पुत्रस्थानाधिपे नीचे कारके नीचराशिगे ।
नीचस्थग्रहदृष्टे च प्रेतशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ १०२ ॥

लग्ने मन्दे सुते राहौ रन्ध्रे भानुसमन्विते ।
व्यये भौमेन संयुक्ते प्रेतशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ १०३ ॥

कामस्थानाधिपे दुःस्थे पुत्रे चन्द्रसमन्विते ! ।
मन्दमान्दियुते लग्ने प्रेतशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ १०४ ॥

वास्थानाधिपे पुत्रे शनिशुक्रसमन्विते ।
कारके नाशराशिस्थे प्रेतशापात् सुतक्षयः ॥ १०५ ॥

95-105 : By non performance of Shradha of the parents (previous birth) that gets into an evil spirit (soul) and with the curse of this spirit, there will be deprivation of children. Yogas of these kinds in relation to the Ascendant are described over here.

If Saturn and the Sun are posited in the 5th house, the weak Moon in the 7th house and Rahu and Jupiter being in the Ascendant and in the 12th house respectively, the curse of evil spirit will destroy the children.

When Saturn being, the lord of the 5th house is posited in the 8th house and Karaka (Jupiter) is also placed in the 8th house, it will cause deprivation of children due to the curse of the evil spirit.

Positioning of malefic planet in the Ascendant, the Sun being in the 12th house and Mars, Saturn, Mercury in the 5th house and the lord of the 5th house is in the 8th house will cause destruction of the children as a result of the evil spirit.

Should Rahu be posited in the Ascendant, Saturn in the 5th house and Jupiter being posited in the 8th house, loss of children will be the result owing to the curse of the evil spirit.

If Venus, Jupiter and Rahu are posited in the Ascendant, Saturn is in conjunction with the Moon and the lord of the Ascendant is posited in the 8th house, the curse of evil spirit will destroy the children.

If the Karaka (Jupiter) and lord of the 5th house being in the signs of debilitation and also aspected by the debilitated planets, it will also cause loss of children. When Saturn is in the Ascendant, Rahu in the 5th house, the Sun in the 8th house and Mars being in the 12th house, the evil spirit will destroy the children.

If lord of the 7th house is in a Trik house (6th, 8th, 12th), the Moon is posited in the 5th house and Mars and Gulika are in the Ascendant, it will bring about the loss of children following the curse of the evil spirit.

Positioning of the lord of the 8th house, Saturn and Venus in the 5th house and Karaka Jupiter being in the 8th house will cause the destruction of the children due to the curse of the evil spirit.

अस्य दोषस्य शान्त्यर्थं गयाश्राद्धं समाचरेत् ।
कुर्याद्रुद्राभिषेकञ्च ब्रह्ममूर्ति प्रदापयेत् ॥ १०६ ॥

धेनुं रजतपात्रं च तथा नीलमणिं द्विज ! ।
ब्राह्मणान् भोजयेत् पश्चात् तेभ्यश्च दक्षिणां दिशेत् ॥ १०७ ॥

एवं कृते मनुष्यस्य शापमोक्षः प्रजायते ।
पुत्रोत्पत्तिर्भवेत्तस्य कुलवृद्धिश्च जायते ॥ १०८ ॥

106-108: To alleviate the affliction (दोष) and get released from the curse, the native should perform Shradha (श्राद्द) at Gaya, Rudra Abhisheka (रुद्र अभिषेक) and charity of idol of Lord Bramha etc., should be done. Besides, cow, silver vessel and Neelamani (नीलमणि) be also given in a charity to the Brahmins. After feeding the Brahmins, they should be paid Dakshna (दक्षिण). By performing these rituals, the native will get released from the curse and birth of a child (son) will take place bestowing prolongation to the family.

तथा ज्ञशुक्रजे दोषे पुत्राप्तिः शम्भुपूजनात् ।
जीवचन्द्रकृते विप्र ! मन्त्रयन्त्रौषधादितः ॥ १०९ ॥

राहुजे कन्यकादानात् सूर्यजे हरिकीर्तनात् ।
गोदानात् केतुजे दोषे रुद्रजापात् कुजाऽऽर्किजे ॥ ११० ॥

सर्वदोषविनाशाया शुभसन्तानलब्धये ।
हरिवंशकथा भक्त्या श्रोतव्या विधिना द्विज ! ॥ १११ ॥

109-111: In order to get blessed with a son (child), propi tiation of the concerned planets to mitigate the affliction be performed. Worshipping of Lord Shiva will alleviate the affliction and curse of Mercury and Venus. Adoption of Mantras, Yantras and administering certain medicine (औषधियाँ) will ward off the afflic tion (curse) of the Moon and Jupiter. Performing Kanyadana (कन्यादान) will alleviate the Rahu's affliction. By recitation of Hari Bhajna (हरिभजन), the affliction of the Sun gets mitigated. By giving cow in charity will effect release from Ketu's affliction. Japa of Rudriya will mellow down the affliction of the Mars and Saturn. All the afflictions will get extenuated by performing devout worship and listening to Harivansha Purna (हरिवंश पुराण) with earnest devotion and thus one will be blessed with a son (child).
