Week 9 — Antardasha: Where Timing Becomes Specific
Chapters 51 and 52 complete the dasha-systems picture at orientation depth. Chapter 53 teaches Antardasha computation. Then Chapter 54 - the Sun's Antardashas - is read closely as the model chapter that teaches you how to read Chapters 55 through 62 on your own.
What you should be able to do by the end
Compute any Antardasha period, and read Parashara's Antardasha treatment as a method - so that the eight chapters you do not study closely can still be used correctly on sight.
Chapters 54 to 62 are thirty-eight thousand words of near-identical structure: one chapter per Mahadasha lord, each giving the results of every Antardasha within it. That is over twelve per cent of the whole book.
The way through is not to read all of it slowly. It is to read one of them properly and learn what generates the rest. Parashara’s Antardasha judgments are not arbitrary; they vary with the relationship between the two lords involved - friend or enemy, dignity, house relationship. Once you see the logic, those nine chapters become a table you can read rather than a wall you must climb.
This single teaching decision is what makes the timing block fit into three weeks without cutting anything out.
One caution: the translator’s notes in these chapters draw explicitly on Varahamihira, Kalyanavarma, Mantreswara and his own practice. That is valuable material and it is not Parashara. It is marked as what it is.
