52. Results of Chara Etc., Dasas :

चर-स्थिरादि-संज्ञा या दशाः प्रोक्ताः पुरा द्विज ! ।
शुभाऽशुभफलं तासां कथयामि तवाऽग्रतः ॥ १ ॥

लग्नादि-द्वादशान्तानां भावानां फलकीर्तने ।
तत्तद्राशीशवीर्येण यथायोग्यं प्रयोजयेत्‌ ॥ २ ॥

बलयुक्ते च राशीशे पूर्णं तस्य तदा फलम्‌ ।
फलं मध्यबले मध्यं बलहीने विपर्ययः ॥ ३ ॥

1-3 : Sage Parasara said - O Brahim ! Now I am going to perorate before you the auspicious and inauspicious results of the Dasas namely, Chara, Sthira etc., which were narrated by me Mearlier.

The results of the Ascendant and twelve houses etc., are interpreted properly on the basis of the strength of the lord of the houses. The lord of sign with full strength will give full result, with medium strength, mediocre result and sign devoid of strength, will give trivial result.

यो यो दशाप्रदो राशिस्तस्य रन्ध्रत्रिकोणके ।
पापखेटयुते विप्र ! तद्दशा दुखःदायिका ॥ ४ ॥

तृतीयषष्ठगे पापे ज्यादिः परिकीर्तितः ।
शुभखेटते तत्र जायते च पराजयः ॥ ५ ॥

लाभस्थे च शुभे पापे लाभो भवति निश्चितः ।
यदा दशाप्रदो राशिः शुभखेटयुतो द्विज ! ॥ ६ ॥

शुभक्षेत्रे हि तद्राशेः शुभं ज्ञेयं दशाफलम् ।
पापयुक्ते शुभक्षेत्रे पूर्वं शुभमसत्परे ॥ ७ ॥

पापर्क्षे शुभसंयुक्ते पूर्वं सौख्यं ततोऽशुभम् ।
पापक्षेत्रे पापयुक्ते सा दशा सर्वदुःखदा ॥ ८ ॥

शुभक्षेत्रदशा राशौ युक्ते पापशुभैर्द्विज! ।
पूर्व कष्टं सुखं पश्चान्निर्विशंक प्रजायते ॥ ९ ॥

शुभक्षेत्रे शुभं वाच्यं पापर्क्षे त्वशुभं फलम् ॥ १० ॥

4-10 : If there are malefic planets posited in the 8th, the 9th and the 5th houses from the sign having the running Dasa, O Brahim! their Dasas will offer troublesome results. The sign which is having malefic planet in the 3rd and the 6th houses from it, the Dasa of that sign will bring victory etc., and if these houses contain benefic planets in it, the defeat will be the result. If the 11th house from the Dasa-sign is occupied by a malefic or benefic planet, that Dasa will invariably be beneficial. Dasa-sign conjunct with or being in the sign of a benefic planet, such Dasa will always deliver auspicious results.

An auspicious sign if is conjunct with a malefic planet, that Dasa of the sign will first give favourable and then unfavourable results. If inauspicious sign is having a conjunction of a benefic planet, it will also first give beneficial and then deleterious results. Should there be malefic planet in the inauspicious sign, the Dasa of this sign will usher all round harmful results. If there are both benefic and malefic planets in an auspicious sign, the Dasa of such a sign will undoubtedly, provide first the detrimental and then advantageous results. The Dasas of the auspicious sign will command fully favourable and of the inauspicious sign will produce completely unfavourable results.

द्वितीये पञ्चमे सौम्ये राजप्रीतिर्जयो ध्रुवम् ।
पापे तत्र गते ज्ञेयमशुभं तद्दशाफलम् ॥ ११ ॥

चतुर्थे तु शुभं सौख्यमारोग्यं त्वष्टमे शुभे ।
धर्मवृद्धिर्गुरुजनात्सौख्यं च नवमे शुभे ॥ १२ ॥

विपरीते विपर्यासो मिश्र मिश्रं प्रकीर्तितम् ।
पाके भोगे च पापाढ्ये देहपीडा मनोव्यथा ॥ १३ ॥

सप्तमे पापभोगाभ्यां पापे दारार्तिरीरिता ।
चतुर्थे स्थानहानिः स्यात्पञ्चमे पुत्रपीडनम् ॥ १४ ॥

दशमे कीर्तिहानिः स्यान्नवमे पितृपीडनम् ।
पाकाद्रुद्रगते पापे पीडा सर्वाप्यबाधिका ॥ १५ ॥

उक्तस्थानगते सौम्ये ततः सौख्यं विनिर्दिशेत् ।
केन्द्रस्थानगते सौम्ये लाभः शत्रुजयप्रदः ॥ १६ ॥

जन्मकालग्रहस्थित्या सगोचरग्रहैरपि ।
विचारितैः प्रवक्तव्यं तत्तद्राशिदशाफलम् ॥ १७ ॥

11-17 : Positioning of benefic planets in the 2nd and the 5th houses, certainly bring affection of the king and victory. If there are malefic planets in these houses, the results of the Dasa will definitely be considered as inauspious. If there are benefic planets in the 5th and the 8th houses, happiness and sound health is indicated. The position of benefic planets in the 9th house, rise in the religious thinkings and affection from preceptors will be the result of the Dasa and in the opposite situation, the converse results and in case of both benefic and malefic planets, mixed results will be indicative. If inauspious sign tenants malefic planet, it will cause mental and bodily sufferings.

The position of malefic in the 7th house will make the wife of the native to face health hazards. The malefic planet in the 4th house results in the loss of or displacement from the house; in the 5th suffering to son, in the 10th house degradation in the status or fame, in the 9th house, it will cause distress to the father. If the 11th house from the Dasa-sign, has malefic planets, all sorts of obstacles and if the said house is occupied by the benefic planets, extra-ordinary happiness will be felt during the Dasa. Should the Angular houses (Kendras) are tenanted by the benefic planets, gain in wealth and win-over of the enemies be expected.

The disposition of planets at birth time and in transit over the sign during the Dasa be interpolated before determining the Dasas results.

यश्च राशि: शुभाक्रान्तो यस्य पश्चाच्छुभग्रहाः ।
तद्दशा शुभदा प्रोक्ता विपरीते विपर्ययः ॥ १८ ॥

त्रिकोणरन्ध्ररिष्फस्यैः शुभपापैः शुभाऽशुभम् ।
तद्दशायां च वक्तव्यं फलं दैवविदा सदा ॥ १९ ॥

18-19 : The sign with benefic planets in it and also having in the preceding house, the Dasa of such sign is benefic considered auspicious. In the reverse situation, opposite effects will be felt. Positioning of benefic planets in the 5th, the 8th or the 12th house, from the Dasa of the sign will cause favourable results.. Should there be malefic planets instead, the learned astrologers shall always predict unfavourable results.

Positioning of benefic planets in auspicious sign and situations drawn out in the preceding "Shlokas" regarding favourable results of the good placements of benefic planets put togather, enhances the beneficial. effects. In the converse situation of malefic planets occupying the signs, harmful effects will get heightened.

If Venus is posited in the 2nd house from the Dasa-sign, the native will earn extra-ordinary profits and if the Moon also happened to be with Venus, the native certainly gets pleasure of land, property, vehicle etc.

Should Rahu gets posited in the 2nd house from the Dasa-sign, conflicts over the parental property will surface. The property gets divided. Some kind of favourtism in the litigation or in arbitration will be shown to the native during this period.

मेषकर्कतुलानकराशीनां च यथाक्रमम् ।
बाधा स्थानानि सम्प्रोक्ता कुम्भगोसिंहवृश्चिकाः ॥ २० ॥

पाकेशाक्रान्तराशौ वा बाधास्थाने शुभेतरे ।
स्थिते सति महाशोको बन्धनव्यसनामयाः ॥ २१ ॥

20-21: The obstructive houses (Badhaka-Sthansas) forthe Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn signs are Aquarius, Taurus, Leo and Scorpio respectively. If the host sign of the lord of the Dasa-sign and the malefic planets are in the obstructive houses, the Dasa of that sign brings tremendous distress, imprisonment, expenditure, disease etc.

उच्चस्वर्क्षग्रहे तस्मिञ्छुभं सौख्यं धनागमः ।
तच्छून्यं चेदसौख्यं स्यात्तद्दशा न फलप्रदा ॥ २२ ॥

22: If a sign is posited with exalted or own planet, the Dasa of the sign will afford sensuous enjoyment and wealth. If the sign is devoid of any planet, the Dasa of the sign will be unfavourable and defunct.

बाघव्यियश्यषडरन्धे राहुयुक्ते महद्रभयम्र ।
प्रस्थने बन्धनप्राप्ती राजपीडा रिपोभयम्र ॥ २३ ॥

रव्याररहुशनयो भुकितराशौ स्थिता यदि ।
तद्राशिभुक्तौ पतनं राजकोपान्र महद्रभयम्र ॥ २४ ॥

भुक्तिराशित्निकोणे तु नीचखेट: स्थितो यदि ।
तद्राशौ वायुते नीचे पापे वदेत ॥ २५ ॥

23-25: If Rahu is posited in an obstructive (Badhaka) house or in the 6th, the 8th or the 12th house from a sign, the Dasa and the Antardasa of the sign will cause dreadful fear, imprisonment while travelling, persecution by the king and danger from the enemy.

In the Antardasa of the sign harbouring the Sun, Mars, Rahu and Saturn, there will be retardation, wrath of the king, deep fright etc. If the 5th or the 9th house from the Antardasa sign, hosts debilitated or malefic planet, fear of death be assessed.

भुक्तिराशौ स्वतुङस्थे त्रिकोणे वापि खेचरे ।
यदा भुक्तिदशा प्राप्ता तदा सौख्यं लभेन्नरः ॥ २६ ॥

नगरग्रामनाथत्वं पुत्रलाभं धनागमम्‌ ।
कल्याणं भूरिभाग्यं च सेनापत्यं महोन्नतम्‌ ॥ २७ ॥

पाकेश्वरो जीवदुष्टः शुभराशिस्थितो यदि ।
तद्दशायां धनप्राप्तिर्मङलं पुत्रसम्भवम्‌ ॥ २८ ॥

26-28: Positing of exalted planet in the Antardasa-sign will bring happiness and the native is bestowed with administration of the town or village, child, wealth, welfare, fructification of fortune, position of commander, abundant progress etc. The lord of Dasa, if is posited in auspicious sign and aspected by Jupiter, in this Dasa the native acquires wealth, is blessed with son and accomplishes the auspicious works.

सितासितभयुग्माश्च सूर्यस्य रिपुराशयः ।
कौर्पितौलिघटाश्चेन्दोर्भोमस्य रिपुराशयः ॥ २९ ॥

घटमीननृयुक्तौलिकन्या ज्ञस्य ततः परम्‌ ।
कर्कमीनालिकुम्भाश्च राशयो रिपवः स्मृताः ॥ ३० ॥

वृषतौलिनृयुक्कन्याराशयो रिपवो गुरोः ।
सिंहालिकर्कचापाश्च शुकस्य रिपुराशयः ॥ ३१ ॥

मेषसिंहधनु:- कौर्पिकर्कटा शनिशत्रवः ।
एवं ग्रहान्तरदशां चिन्तयेत्कोविदो द्विज ! ||३२ ॥

29-32: Taurus, Libra, Capricorn, Aquarius and Gemini signs are the inimical signs for the Sun; Scorpio, Libra and Aquarius for the Moon; Aquarius, Pisces, Gemini, Libra and Virgo for Mars; Cancer, Pisces, Scorpio, Aquarius, for Mercury; Taurus, Libra, Gemini, Virgo for Jupiter; Leo, Scorpio, Cancer and Sagittarius for Venus; Aries, Leo, Sagittarius, Scorpio and Cancer for Saturn. Therefore, O-Brahim, the result of the Dasas be described atter giving due consideration to these factors.

Inimical Signs of the Planets :

ये राजयोगदा: ये च शुभमध्यगता ग्रहाः ।
यस्माद्वा द्वित्रितुर्यस्याः ग्रहाः शुभफलप्रदाः ॥ ३३ ॥

तद्दशायां शुभं ब्रूयाद्राजयोगादिसम्भवम्‌ ।
शुभद्वयान्तरगतः पापोऽपि शुभदः स्मृतः ॥ ३४ ॥

33-34: The planet being a Yogakarka, hemmed between two benefic planets and having benefic planet in the 2nd, the 3rd or the 4th house, auspicious results are attained during the Dasa of such planet. In this Dasa, the auspicious effects of the Yogkarka is also felt. The malefic planets hemmed between the benefic planets will also deliver the favourable results.

गता शुभदशामध्यं दशा सौम्यस्य शोभना ।
शुभा यस्य त्रिकोणस्थस्तद्दशापि शुभप्रदा ॥ ३५ ॥

आरम्भान्तौ मित्रशुभराश्योर्यदि फलं शुभम् ।
प्रतिराश्यैवमब्दाद्यं विभज्य तत्फलं वदेत ॥ ३६ ॥

35-36: Antardasa of the benefic sign of the benefic Dasa sign will indicate favourable results and if the benefic planet is in the Trinal houses, that Dasa will also produce the beneficial results.

If the ending and starting portions of the Dasa have the connections with the friendly and auspicious signs (i.e. opening and concluding Antardasa of the benefic signs), that entire Dasa will give favourable results. The effects of the Dasa be delineated after apportioning the sign into Dasa years etc..

आसम्भात्तत्त्रिकोणे तु सौम्ये तु शुभमावहेत्‌ ।
शुभराशौ शुभारम्भे दशा स्यादतिशोभना ॥ ३७ ॥

शुभादिराशौ पापश्चेद्दशासम्भे शुभा स्मृता ।
शुभारम्भे कथा केति प्रारम्भस्य फलं वदेत्‌ ॥ ३८ ॥

आरम्भे पापराशौ वा यदीशो दुर्बलो द्विज ।
नीचादौ तद्दशाद्यन्ते वदेद्‌ भाग्यविपर्ययम्‌ ॥ ३९ ॥

37-39: If there is benefic planet in the Trinal houses, in the beginning period of the Dasa sign, the results of the such Dasa is favourable. Auspicious Antardasa of auspicious Dasa is exceedingly beneficial for the native. A malefic Antardasa of a auspicious Dasa sign, is favourable in the beginning. A benefic sign at the commencement of the Dasa is an excellent situation. Therefore, the result be stated after seeing the first Dasa at the commencement of the Dasa.

If the starting Dasa is of a malefic sign and if the lord of the sign is weak or debilitated, there will be reversal of the fortune in the beginning and at the end of the Dasa.

यत्र स्थितो नीचखेटस्त्रिकोणे वाऽथ नीचगः ।
तथा राशीश्वरे नीचे सम्बन्धो नीचखेटकैः ॥ ४० ॥

भाग्यस्य विपरीतत्वं करोत्येव द्विजोत्तम ! ।
धनधान्यादिहानिश्च देहे रोगभयं तथा ॥ ४१ ॥

40-41 : The sign having debilitated planet in it or in its Trinal houses or its lord is debilitated or having any connections with the debilitated planet, there will be degradation of the fortune in that Dasa-sign and also loss of wealth, agriculture produce and danger of disease.

राहो: केतोश्च कुम्भादि वृश्चिकादि चतुष्टयम् ।
स्वभं तत्र समारम्भस्तद्दशायां शुभं भवेत् ॥ ४२ ॥

42 : Rahu and Ketu posses four signs serially from Aquarius and Scorpio respectively. If Rahu and Ketu are posited in any of the four signs owned by them, the Dasa of such signs will be considered delivering results of the Dasa of own sign.

यद्दशायां शुभं ब्रूयात्स चेन्मारकसंस्थितः ।
यस्मिन् राशौदशान्तः स्यात्तस्मिन् दृष्टे युतेऽपि वा ॥ ४३ ॥

शुक्रेण विधुना वा स्याद्राजकोपाद्धनक्षयः ।
दशान्तश्चेदरिक्षेत्रे राहुदृष्टयुतेऽपि वा ॥ ४४ ॥

इदं फलं शनेः पाके न विचिन्त्यं द्विजोत्तम ! ।
दशाप्रदे नक्रराशौ न विचिन्त्यमिदं फलम् ॥ ४५ ॥

43-45: The Dasa of the planet which is considered as auspicious and if that planet happened to be posited in a 'Maraka' house, the sign in which the Dasa is going to end, has an aspect or conjunction with Venus and the Moon, in the middle of that Dasa, there will be loss of wealth due to political reasons. If Dasa ends in the sign of a benefic planet or the concluding sign is posited with Rahu, it will produce the same results. O-Brahmin the great, these results will not be applicable to the Dasas of Saturn and Capricorn sign.

राहोर्दशान्ते सर्वस्वनाशो मरणबन्धने ।
देशान्निर्वासनं वा स्यात्कष्टं वा महदश्नुते ॥ ४६ ॥

तत्त्रिकोणगते पापे निश्चयाद्दुःखमादिशेत् ।
एवं शुभाशुभं सर्वं निश्चयेन वदेद् बुधः ॥४७ ॥

46-47: The last Dasa of Rahu brings about losses of every kind in which native suffers with death, imprisonment, exile and under goes severe distress. If a malefic planet is posited in the Trinal houses therefrom, these results are bound to occur. The learned Astrologers after analysing the position in this manner, should only describe the results.

रााह्वाद्याश्रितराशिस्तु भवेद्यदि दशाप्रदः ।
तत्र कालेऽपि पूर्वोक्तं चिन्तनीयं प्रयत्नतः ॥ ४८ ॥

दशारम्भो दशान्तो वा मारके चेन्न शोभनम् ।
तस्मिन्नेव च राहुश्चेन्निरोधो द्रव्यनाशनः ॥ ४९ ॥

48-49: In whichever sign Rahu or malefic planet is posited, the above results of the Dasa-sign be thought over. The combination of 'Maraka' planet in the beginning or end of Dasa is not considered good. Amongst these 'Maraka' planets, if Rahu happened to be the one, it will certainly cause imprisonment and loss of wealth.

यत्र क्वापि च भे राहौ दशारम्भे विनाशनम् ।
गृहभ्रंशः समुद्दिष्टो धने राहुर्धनार्तिकृत् ॥ ५० ॥

चन्द्रशुक्रौ द्वादशे चेद्राजकोपो भवेद्ध्रुवम् ।
भौमकेतू तत्र यदि वधोऽग्नेर्महती व्यथा ॥५१ ॥

चन्द्रशुक्रौ धने विप्र ! यदि राज्यं प्रयच्छतः ।
दशारम्भे दशान्ते च द्वितीयस्थमिदं फलम् ॥ ५२ ॥

50-52: If Rahu figures in the beginning of the sign-Dasa, that will bring destruction and the ruination of the house. If Rahu is posited in the 2nd house, loss of wealth will be the result. Should there be Venus and the Moon in the 12th house, it will cause persecution by the king (Government) and if in the same place Mars and Ketu are placed, the native suffers great loss due to murder and fire. If Venus and the Moon occupy the 11th house (Dhana Bhava) it will give Kingdom (estate). The results are felt in the beginning or at the end of the Dasa.

Notes: If Rahu is occupying a sign whose Dasa is operating, one should not either break the old house or undertake illegal construction. In both these situations, the native will have to suffer great loss. Even in the Vimshottari Dasa system, if Rahu is in the 4th house or in Trines or 7th house from it (4th house), one should not venture, under any circumstances, to break the old house. Otherwise, one has to face the disastrous consequences.

In Chara Dasa system, the Moon and Venus render favourable results only if they are posited in the benefic houses. Here, murder has been described as a consequential effect of Mars and Ketu's position in the 12th house. This kind of result is also experienced when Ketu is in the 2nd house and Mars in the 12th house and the Dasa of the 12th sign is in operation.

एवमर्गलभावानां फलं विज्ञैः प्रदर्शितम् ।
यस्य पापः शुभो वाऽपि ग्रहस्तिष्ठेच्छुभार्गले ॥ ५३ ॥

तेन द्रष्ट्रेक्षितं लग्नं प्राबल्यायोपकल्प्यते ।
यदि पश्येद्ग्रहस्तन्न विपरीतार्गलस्थितः ॥ ५४ ॥

तद्भावस्य दशायास्तु विपरीतफलं भवेत् ।
सद्दृष्टेऽपि शुभं ब्रूयान्निर्विशंकं द्विजोत्तम ! ॥ ५५ ॥

53-55: The scholars also narrated the results of Argala (अर्गल) causing houses (planetary interventions) in the same manner. The Ascendant and/or any other houses get strengthened if they receive aspects from the benefic and malefic planets who happened to be the significators (Karka) of the sign of the auspicious Argala, will produce unfavourable results.

The results of the Argala causing houses are always emphathetic. Any sign forming Argala and that sign is not obstructed by the Argala, the strength of delivering good effects of such sign gets further fortified. The Dasa of this sign will attribute the results on the basis of its disposition. Meaning thereby, if that sign or planet has connections with the Yogakarka house or planet, the native will be bestowed with recognition by the king (Government), Government Job, speedy progress, status elevation, more fame etc.

In the event of signs of the Ascendant, the 7th, the 2nd, the 3rd, the 4th, the 5th, the 9th or the 10th house, forming an Argala, the results delivered by the Dasas of the signs will be limited to their respective proportion only. However, the Argala in whichever sign it becomes a "Badhaka", effect of such sign gets dissipated. The quantification of added effectiveness, will be in the proportion of the number of planets causing Argala.

यस्मिन्भावे शुभस्वामिसम्बन्धस्तुंगखेचरः ।
स्यात्तद्भावदशायां तु अत्यैश्वर्यमखण्डितम् ॥ ५६ ॥

यद्भावेश: स्वार्थराशिमधितिष्ठति पश्यति ।
स्यात्तद्भावदशाकाले धनलाभो महत्तरः ॥ ५७ ॥

यस्माद्व्ययगतो यस्तु तद्दशायां धनक्षयः ।
यस्मात्त्रिकोणगाः पापास्तत्रात्मशुभनाशनम् ॥ ५८ ॥

पुत्रहानिः पितुः पीडा मनस्तापो महान् भवेत् ।
यस्मात्त्रिकोणगा रिःफरन्ध्रेशार्कारसूर्यजाः ॥ ५९ ॥

56-59 : The house which harbours, benefic lord or has connections with the exalted planets, its Dasa will produce maximum degree of copious comforts. The lord of a house, if posited or aspects its own sign, the Dasa of such sign delivers abundant wealth and if lord of the house is in the 12th house, the wealth will be frittered away. The house that has malefic planet in the Trines from it, that Dasa will bring about plenty of miseries, loss of a child, agony to father, mental sufferings etc. If the Trinal house has the lord of the 8th or the 12th or the Sun or Saturn, that Dasa will also render unfavourable results.

However, if Saturn or Mars is posited in the 6th house in the state of exaltation or own sign and if the 6th house also happened to be forming Argala, the Dasa of the sign of the 6th house will not render any comfort. Before predicting any kind of sufferings or death of father or son, the position of the signfication of father and son should also properly and essentially be analysed. If there is malefic planet in the 5th or the 9th from any house, that house be declared as utterly spoilt and defunct. This may however, be ascertained, that whether the planet in the 5th house form an 'Argala' (if there is no planet in 9th house) and suppose the 9th house is also having malefic planet, in that situation, do not decide about the obstructor of the Argala until such time Argala forming planet is considered stronger than the obstructor planet. In a situation where the obstructor planet becomes stronger than, as per early principle, in case of malefic planet in a Trine from sign, the Dasa of that sign results in inauspicious events, loss of son, father's agony, mental sufferings etc., will not come true.

This analysis evidently prove a point that keeping accurancy and consistancy of maxims into account is of paramount importance.

पुत्रपीडा द्रव्यहानिस्तत्र केत्वहिसंगमे ।
विदेश भ्रमणं क्लेशो भयं चैव पदे पदे ॥ ६० ॥

यस्मात्यष्ठाष्टमे क्रूरनीचखेटादयः स्थिताः ।
रोगशत्रुनृपालेभ्यो मुहुः पीडा सुदुःसहा ॥ ६१ ॥

यस्माच्चतुर्थः क्रूरः स्याद्भूगृहक्षेत्रनाशनम् ।
पशुहानिस्तत्र भौमे गृहदाहः प्रमादकृत् ॥ ६२ ॥

शनौ हृदयशूलं स्यात्सूर्ये राजप्रकोपनम् ।
सर्वस्वहरणं राहौ विषचौरादिजं भयम् ॥ ६३ ॥

60-63 : The Trine from a sign is posited with Rahu or Ketu. the Dasa of that sign will produce agony of son, loss of wealth, travelling in the foreign land, conflict at every step, fear psychosis etc. The 6th or the 8th from a sign is occupied by a malefic, debilitated or combust planet, the Dasa of the sign will divulge results such as, punishment from the king (authority), fear from the enemies, unbearable sufferings of a disease. The Dasa of sign having malefic planet in the 4th house from it, brings about destruction of house, animals and agricultural land. If Mars happened to be the planet, the house will catch fire due to negligence. In case of Saturn, pain in the heart, if it is the Sun, wrath of the king, if Rahu, overall losses, theft and danger from poison will be caused.

यस्माद् दशमभे राहुः पुण्यतीर्थाटनं भवेत् ।
यस्मात्कर्मायभाग्यर्क्षगताः शोभनखेचराः ॥ ६४ ॥

विद्यार्थ धर्मसत्कर्मख्यातिपौरुषसिद्धयः ।
यतः पञ्चमकामारिगताः स्वोच्चशुभग्रहाः ॥ ६५ ॥

पुत्रदारादिसंप्राप्तिर्नृ पपूजा महात्तरा ।
यस्मिन्पुत्रायकर्माम्बुनवलग्नाधिपाः स्थिताः ॥ ६६ ॥

तत्तद्भावार्थसिद्धिः स्याच्छ्रे यो योगानुसारतः ॥ ६६ ½ ॥

64-66½ : If Rahu is posited in the 10th house from a sign, the Dasa of the sign will bring about pilgrimages of shrines and temples. If benefic planets are occupying the 10th, the 11th or the 9th house from a sign, the Dasa of the sign will attribute education, wealth, religion, pious work, fame, success in the ventures etc. The Dasa of the sign with the 5th, the 7th or the 6th house therefrom posited with benefic planet, or planet in the sign owned by it, will bestow son, wife (marriage) etc. The sign harbouring lords of the 5th, the 11th, the 10th, the 4th, the 9th or the Ascendant, the Dasa of the sign will boost its effect in accordance to the strength and planetary combinations conferred on the houses whose lord(s) are posited in the Dasa-sign.

Lots depend upon the Ascendant of the native. Suppose the Ascendant being Scorpio, the Ascendant's lord Mars and the 5th lord Jupiter and the 4th lord Saturn are together posited in any sign and according to Shloka 66, the Ascendant will deliver the results of the 4th, the 5th and the 6th houses. A point is to be noted over here is that one should not expect much favourable results because the native, in accordance to the characteristic of houses owned by Mars will cause road accident, hindarences in the studies, litigations of land and property, danger from the enemy etc; and the native will have to undergo these kinds of possible adversities.

यस्मिन् गुरुर्खा शुक्रो वा शुभेशो वापि संस्थितः ॥ ६७ ॥

कल्याणं सर्वसंपत्तिर्देवब्राह्मणतर्पणम् ।
यच्चतुर्थे तुङखेटा: शुभस्वामी ग्रहश्च वा ॥ ६८ ॥

वाहनग्रामलाभश्च पशुवृद्धिश्च भूयसी ।
तत्र चन्द्रे च लाभः स्याद्बहुधान्यरसान्वितः ॥ ६९ ॥

पूर्णे विधौ निधिप्राप्तिर्लभेद्वा मणिसञ्चयम् ।
तत्र शुक्रे मृदंगदिवाद्यगानपुरस्कृतः ॥ ७० ॥

67-70: The sign having Jupiter, Venus or the lords of auspicious houses (Trines), in the Dasa of the sign, there will be overall welfare, acquisitions of all type of assets, deep respect to Brahmin, deity etc. The 4th house from a sign, if is posited with a exalted planet or Trine's lord, the Dasa of the sign will promise vehicle, animals, food grain and if the Moon also conjoins, it will bring tremendous wealth and different kinds of luxuries. Full Moon will give treasure, precious stones and ornaments and in the case of Venus, immense pleasure from music and musical instruments like drums, etc. will be bestowed.

आन्दोलिकाप्तिर्जीवे तु कनकांदोलिका ध्रुवम् ।
लग्नकर्मेशभाग्येशतुङस्थशुभयोगतः ॥ ७१ ॥

सर्वोत्कर्षमहैश्वर्यसाम्राज्यादिमहत्फलम् ।
एवं त त्तद्भावदायफलं यत्स्यांद्विचिन्तयेत् ॥ ७२ ॥

71-72 : If Jupiter is posited in the 4th house from a sign, the Dasa of that sign will bestow palanquin type of conveyance (costly vehicles). The sign who has the combination with the lord of the Ascendant, the 9th or the 10th house or exalted, benefic planets, in the Dasa of the sign, there will be success in all ventures, luxuriant comforts, large property etc. The effects of the houses be delineated after taking into account these types of combinations.

एकैकोडुदशा स्वीयैर्गुणैरष्टादशात्मभिः ।
भिन्नं फलविपाकं तु कुर्याद्वै चित्रसंयुतम् ॥ ७३ ॥

परमोच्चे तुङमात्रे तदर्वाक्तदुपर्यपि ।
मूलत्रिकोणभे स्वर्दो स्वाधिमित्रग्रहस्य भे ॥ ७४ ॥

तत्कालसुहृदो गेहे उदासीनस्य भे तथा ।
शत्रोर्भेऽधिरिपोर्भे च नीचान्तादूर्ध्वदेशभे ॥ ७५ ॥

तस्मादर्वाङ् नीचमात्रे नीचान्ते परमांशके ।
नीचारवर्गे सखले स्ववर्गे केन्द्रकोणभे ॥ ७६ ॥

व्यवस्थितस्य खेटस्य समरे पीडितस्य च ।
गाढमूढस्य च दशापचितिः स्वगुणैः फलम् ॥ ७७ ॥

73-77: The Dasa of every sign and planet under the influence of their inherent qualities, produces specific and also dissimilar results. They are 1. Deep exaltation, 2. Exaltation, 3. Posited either sides of an exalted sign, 4. Mooltrikona, 5. Own sign, 6. Best friends sign, 7. Temporary friends sign, 8. Netural sign, 9. Enemy's sign, 10. Bitter enemy's sign, 11. Sign of debilitation, 12. Either side of a deblitated sign, 13. Deep debilitated sign, 14. Debilitated or Enemy's division (Varga), 15. Own Division (Varga), 16. Posited in Angles (Kendras), 17. Posited in Trines (Trikonas), 18. Defeated in a planetary war, 19. Combust. The results of the Dasas will be in accordance to these states (Avasthas) of the signs and the planets.

परमोच्चगतो यस्तु योऽतिवीर्यसमन्वितः ।
सम्पूर्णाख्या दशा तस्य राज्यभोग्यशुभप्रदा ॥ ७८ ॥

लक्ष्मीकटाक्षचिहनां चिरावासगृहप्रदा ।
तुंगमात्रगतस्यापि तथा वीर्याधिकस्य च ॥ ७९ ॥

पूर्णाख्या बहुतैश्वर्यदायिन्यापि रुजाप्रदा ।
अतिनीचगतस्यापि दुर्बलस्य ग्रहस्य तु ॥ ८० ॥

रिक्ता त्वनिष्टफलदा व्याघ्यनर्थमृतिप्रदा ।
अत्युच्चेऽप्यतिनीचस्थे मध्यगस्यावरोहिणी ॥ ८१ ॥

मित्रोच्चभावप्राप्तस्य मध्याख्या ह्यर्थदा दशा ।
नीचांतादुच्चभागान्तं भषद्रके मध्यगस्य च ॥ ८२ ॥

दशा चारोहिणी नीचरिपुभांशगतस्य च ।
अधमाख्या भयक्लेशव्याधिदुःखविवर्धिनी ॥ ८३ ॥

नामानुरुपफलदा:. पाककाले दशा इमा: ॥ ८३½ ॥

78-83½ : The Dasa of the planet in its deep exaltation and extremely powerful is considered wholesome (full) Dasa. This Dasa produces kingly type of comforts and tremendous happiness. In this Dasa abandunt wealth, exuberant comforts get enhanced. The Dasa of the exalted and powerful planet is "Dasa in totallity" which brings about, copious luxuries but also with some kind of ailments. The Dasa of a deep debilitated and weak planet is considered as a defunct Dasa. This Dasa results in disease, loss of wealth, death etc. The Dasa of a planet, located between deep exaltation points and deep debilitated point in friendly sign, in exaltation sign is known as "Avarohini" (middle level or decending Dasa) which gives less wealth. The Dasa of planet, positioned inbetween deep debilitation and deep exaltation points is called 'Arohini' or ascending Dasa. The Dasa of a planet which is in debilitation, in the hold of inimical sign is called Adhama (evil) which enhances fear, conflicts, disease etc.

These Dasas produce results true to their names when in operation.

भाग्येशगुरुसम्बन्धो योगदृक्केन्द्रभादिभिः ॥ ८४ ॥

परेषामपि दायेषु भाग्योपक्रममुन्नयेत् ।
जातको यस्तु फलदो भाग्ययोगप्रदोऽथ यः ॥ ८५ ॥

सफलो वक्रिमादूर्ध्वमन्यानपि च खेचरान् ।
दुर्बलानसमर्थांश्च फलदानेषु यागतः ॥ ८६ ॥

तारतम्यात्सुसम्बन्धा दशा ह्येताः फलप्रदाः ।
स्वकेन्द्रादिजुषां तेषां पुर्णार्द्धांध्रिव्यवस्थया ॥ ८७ ॥

84-87 : Combination of the lord of the 9th house and Jupiter forming a Yoga through aspects, mutual angle position or planets etc. induces benefic effect also to the Dasa of the other planets. The planet being significator of fortune at the time of birth will render full effects on taking direct course from retrogression. In this manner, the results of the other planets will depend upon their strength, weakness, formation of Yogas and their inter relationship. The results of the these Dasas will be to the level of complete (whole) medium (average) and trivial (little) depending upon the placements in Kendras (Angles), Panaphara, Aplokima signs.

शीर्षोदयभगाः स्व-स्व- दशादौ स्वफलप्रदाः ।
उभयोदयराशिस्थदशा मध्यफलप्रदा ॥ ८८ ॥

पृष्ठोदयर्क्षगाः खेटाः स्वदशान्ते फलप्रदाः ।
निसर्गतश्च तत्काले सुहृदां हरणे शुभम् ॥ ८९ ॥

सम्पादयेत्तदा कष्टं तद्विपर्ययगामिनाम् ॥ ८९½ ॥

88-89½ : The results of the beginning of the Dasa come from the planets posited in the Shirshodhya signs, (Rising with their heads), middle Dasa from planets posited in this Ubhayodhaya signs (Rising both ways) and end of the Dasa from planets posited in the Presthodhya signs (Rising from hind parts). Natural and temporary friendly planets produce favourable results during the Antardasa. In the converse situation i.e., natural and temporary enemy planets will give unfavourable results.

दशेशाक्रान्तभावर्क्षादारभ्य द्वादशर्क्षकम् ॥ ९० ॥

भक्त्वा द्वादशराशीनां दशाभुक्तिं प्रकल्पयेत् ।
एकैकराशेर्या तत्र सुहृत्स्वक्षेत्रगामिनी ॥ ९१ ॥

तस्यां राज्यादिसम्पत्तिपूर्वकं शुभमीरयेत् ।
दुःस्थानरिपुगेहस्थनीचक्रूरयुता च या ॥ ९२ ॥

तस्यामनर्थकलहं रोगमृत्युभयादिकम् ।
बिन्दुभूयस्त्वशून्यत्ववशात् स्वीयाष्टवर्गके ॥ ९३ ॥

वृद्धिं हानिं च तद्राशिभावस्य स्वगृहात्क्रमात् ।
भावयोजनया विद्यात्सुतस्त्रयादिशुभाशुभम् ॥ ९४ ॥

धात्वादिराशिभेदाच्च धात्वादिग्रहयोगतः ।
शुभपापदशाभेदाच्छुभपापयुतैरपि ॥ ९५ ॥

इष्टानिष्टस्थानभेदात् फलभेदात् समुन्नयेत् ।
एवं सर्वग्रहाणां च स्वां स्वामन्तर्दशामपि ॥ ९६ ॥

90-96 : Commencing from the sign in which the lord of the Dasa is posited, the twelve signs in seriatim will represent 12 Antardasas. The Antardasa of the sign tenanting its lord or friendly planet, produces gain of territory (kingdom etc.), property etc. types of favourable results. The Antardasa of the signs of trik houses (the 6th, the 8th or the 12th) or the sign possesing malefic, debilitated, inimical planets brings about loss of wealth, calamities, diseases, danger of death etc., kind of unfavourable results. The Antardasa of the signs having more benefic points (in Ashtakvarga), give favourable and the signs having malefic points, give unfavourable results :

For ascertaining the results related to the native (Son, wife, father etc.) treat the house signified by them as Ascendant and perceive the characteristics of the other houses as normally done for the radical Ascendant. Like, for son assume the 5th house, for wife assume the 7th house as Ascendant and so on.

[For example: In order to know the results concerning the son of the native, assume radical 5th house of the native as Ascendant and the 6th house as the 2nd house which will reveal the wealth status of the son. The 7th will give effect of the 3rd house for his co-borns, and the 11th house will give the result of the wife of the son being the 7th from the 5th (daughter-in-law of the native) and so on. In the same manner, the results of the other reletives of the native could be figured out ].

The classification of signs and planets in terms of 'Dhatu' described earlier and the results of gain or loss of a 'Dhatu'. connected with a particular sign or planet be interpretted in accordance to their respective Antardasas, being auspicious or inauspicious.

The favourable and unfavourable results of the Antardasa should be thought over on the basis of the combinations (Yogas) between auspicious sign and malefic planet, benefic planet and malefic planet and their placements in the auspicious and inauspicious houses.

स्वराशितो राशिभुक्तिं प्रकल्प्य फलमीरयेत् ।
अन्तरन्तर्दशां स्वीयां विभज्यैवं पुनः पुनः ॥ ९७ ॥

97 : In this manner, the results of the Antardasas (sub period) of all the signs and by further dividing, the results of their Pratyantar Dasas (sub-sub-period) shall be interpreted.
